Commissioning begins well before the first start. If system boundaries, installation readiness and supporting records are not defined in advance, the team discovers gaps only when testing is under way.

01

System breakdown

  • Define systems, subsystems and the physical handover boundaries.
  • Appoint owners for installation and commissioning readiness.
  • Establish the criteria for transition between stages.
  • Link equipment, tags and documents to the relevant system.
02

Readiness review

  • Installation is complete and supported by the required records.
  • Pre-commissioning tests are complete and accepted.
  • Critical comments are closed and the remaining items are classified.
  • Authorisations to energise or introduce process media are issued under the project procedure.
03

Test control

  1. Agree the test procedure and test conditions.
  2. Confirm safety arrangements and participant readiness.
  3. Record the initial parameters and result.
  4. Register deviations and repeat tests.
  5. Place the accepted record in the system dossier.
04

Handover to operations

The commissioning package connects system status, tests, comments and acceptance records. Operations receives a clear view of readiness and outstanding obligations rather than a loose collection of test reports.
